Trunk-or-treats in the Treasure Valley 2026

15 trunk-or-treats from Boise to Fruitland, sorted by date, plus tips for a smooth night. Updated Oct 14.

What’s a trunk-or-treat?

Instead of walking door to door, families walk a parking lot where people decorate their car trunks and hand out candy. It’s well lit, in one place, and easy with strollers and little legs, which is why churches, schools, police and fire departments across the valley host them.

Tips for a smooth night

  • Go earlyPopular trunk-or-treats can run out of candy before the posted end time, especially in the first hour.
  • Dress for the coldLate-October evenings in the valley often drop into the 40s. Plan costumes that fit over a jacket.
  • Bring lightMost events run into dusk. A flashlight or glow sticks help little ones stay visible in a busy parking lot.
  • Watch the carsTrunk-or-treats happen in parking lots, and some cars may still be moving in and out. Hold hands with small kids.
  • Food allergies?Look for teal pumpkins. They mark trunks handing out non-food treats like stickers or glow bracelets.
  • Bring a sturdy bagSome events hand out a lot. A bag with handles beats a plastic pumpkin for little hands.
